周囲を山に囲まれた静かな土地で、家族内での距離感と地域住民との関係も意識しながらいかに心地よく住まうかということを考えた。都会や新興住宅地とは異なるこの地域ならではの昔ながらのコミュニティを大切にしつつ、建築において内と外の関係を意識した吹き抜けと土間空間から新しいコミュニケーションの仕方が生まれることを期待している。
BAUM designs a house for a couple with their two kids in Sanmandani-cho, a quiet valley surrounded by the forest in Fukui Prefecture, Japan. The challenge was to ensure privacy and to deal with the relation of local residents that is unique to this area. The proposal outlines therefore a strong connection between the warmth of the inner space and the exterior natural landscape through a concrete space called “doma”.
